777 Flight Deck Engineering Simulator Takes Off.
Althogh the new Boeing 777 is not slated to fly until June 1994, the next best thing already is helping Boeing Commercial Airplane Group engineers to develop the wide-bodied twinjet's cockpit flight displays. The 777 flight deck engineering simulator , while not an exact replica of the new twinjet's flight deck, also will be used to integrate flight systems. Immediately in front of the two pilot seats are the primary flight data. Toward the center are the navigation displays and the engine indication and crew alerting system (EICAS) display which is in the center of the flight deck. Immediately below the EICAS is a multifunction display that provides the flight crew with "data-linked" messages, checklists and synoptic diagrams of the airplane's major systems.
