- I følge biografiske håndbøker oppfant den svenskfødte ingeniøren Axel Jacob Petersson, som levde i Norge, to ulike regnemaskiner. Den ene ble utstilt ved verdensutstillingene i Wien i 1873 og i Philadelphia i 1876. Peterssons kalkulator var en forgjenger til den mye senere Curta regnemaskinen og har en sentral trappevals som Curta.
