Keipnavar brukes til å bore hull til keipnaglene med. Det er keipnaglene som fester keipen til ripa. Båtbyggeren hadde minst to navrer. Keipnavaren bora hull på 5/8". Den dimensjonen gikk på alle størrelsene opp til lestabåt. Keipnavar ble også brukt til bandnaglene i båter til og med firrorings størrelse.
