Per Stang var utdannet kjemiker og sentral i oppbyggingen av Norsk Hydro. Fra ca 1905 til 1913 arbeidet han ved Forsøksfabrikken på Notodden med utviklingen av kusntgjødsel. Han var også en ivrig amatørfotograf.
Dette er Ovnshus C på Notodden. Det ser ut som om de tar ut de lange og høye Schönherrovnene for å rydde plass til norske lysbueovner (Birkeland/Eyde) som ble tatt i bruk i dette bygget fra 1911.
