Moderniseringa av leseanlegget på Glennetangen i begynnelsen av 1960-åra var et ledd i et storstilt rasjonaliseringsprosjekt for hele tømmerfløtinga i Glomma. Glomma fellesfløtingsforening ønsket å forenkle merkinga og sorteringsarbeidet. Fra å sortere tømmeret etter 35-40 ulike øksemerker ønsket fløtingsadministrasjonen å gå over til fargemerking og kun fire sortimenter, som ble markert med ulike farger (maling). Det største sortimentet, midtmålt gran til produksjon av sulfittcellulose (cirka to tredeler av virket) gikk uten farge, toppmålt gran fikk gule fargemerker, småfuru (sulfattømmer) fikk kvite malingsflekker. Det øvrige – som omfattet skurslip og ymse spesialsortimenter – skulle påslås grønne malingsflekker. Med denne forenklete merkinga kunne både lenseanlegget og bemanninga forenkles betydelig. Lengden på sorteringsanlegget ble redusert fra cirka 2 000 meter til 1 100 meter, og antall sorteringsbåser ble redusert fra cirka 120 til 42. Det grønnmerkete tømmeret – spesialsortimentene, som utgjorde cirka fem prosent av totalvolumet –ble tatt ut først og sortert like omhyggelig etter øksemerker, slik lensearbeiderne alltid hadde sortert tømmer på Glennetangten. Etter at det grønnmerkete tømmeret var tatt ut, gikk man løs på det gulmerkete, og så det kvitmerkete. Tømmer uten fargemerking fikk gå mer eller mindre fritt rett til mosemaskinene uten noen form for manuelle inngrep. En del tre meters grankubb ble imidlertid automatisk utsortert ved rettemaskinene og ledet til en spesiell, liten mosemaskin. Forenklinga av sortimentsystemet og det nye, automatiske retteanlegget gjorde det mulig å redusere bemanninga, fra cirka 270 mann før til snaut 120 mann etter at nyanlegget ble satt i drift, i 1963. Effektiviteten økte imidlertid voldsomt. I 1962 ekspederte anlegget 45-47 stokker er mann i timen, til 118 stokker per mann i timen i 1964. Størst var bemanningsreduksjonen og effektivitetsøkningen i sorteringsavdelingen. De fire (av opprinnelig fem) gjenværende sorteringsmaskinene ble på en måte flaskehalser i systemet, men også der økte effektiviteten etter at det ble installert vaiertrekk som dro tømmeret raskere enn før inn i mosekamrene maskinene.

Vi ser ei par av «kloppene» (bruene) som gikk på tvers av «avdelingene». Sentralt på disse bruene var det ei vaiersløyfe som var opplagret i jernbeslag med trinsledd. Den underste delen kunne heltes av, slik at ”kjørevaieren” la seg på tømmeret og drev det i større hastighet mot mosemaskinen enn de naturlige strømforholdene kunne bevirke. Det var bare å legge en kort, liten stokk oppå den nedre delen av kabelsløyfa, så ville denne stokken trekke med seg det øvrige virket. Dette var det spesielt behov for når det var motvind. I bakgrunnen til venstre ser vi skjermer som hever seg over vannflata, antakelig sidekarmene ved ”brua” (skråplanet) som var sentralt i det nye skrensrettingsanlegget lenseanlegget fikk sommeren 1963. Lengre til høyre i bildeflata ser vi et par små, flytende hus, muligens ei kvilebu og et redskapsskjul. Fotografiet er antakelig tatt i forbindelse med en befaring Norsk Fløtningsforbund arrangerte til nyanlegget på Glennetangen ettersommeren i 1963.
Da fløtinga i Glomma ble avviklet i 1985 ble det ordnet slik at fellesfløtingsforeningens arkivsaker ble overlatt til Riksarkivet, som valgte å fortsette å oppbevare dem i det eksisterende arkivrommet ved Fellesfløtingsforeningens kontor på Fetsund. Amanuensis Øivind Vestheim fra Norsk Skogbruksmuseum veiledet lokale prosjektansatte, som startet ordning av materialet. Den daglige forvaltningen av arkivene er seinere overtatt av medarbeidere fra museet som ble etablert på Fetsund lenser i 1990. Fotosamlinga fra Glomma fellesfløtingsforening ble overført til daværende Norsk Skogbruksmuseum i Elverum. Materialet består av 72 album. Motivene er fra hele Glommavassdraget, samt fra ymse ekskursjonsreiser fløtingsfunksjonærene deltok i langs andre vassdrag. Museumsfotograf OT Ljøstad har reprodusert de fleste av opptakene i dette materialet og skrevet negativnummere i albumene han har utført repro fra. Det finnes også originalnegativer til en del av motivene. Disse skal være merket og ordnet i mapper etter at de kom til museet.
