Fra skogkurset «Smaalenenes Skogselskab» (Skogselskapet i Østfold) arrangerte på Sanne i Tune i 1902. Dette fylkesskogselskapet ble stiftet våren 1900, så organisasjonen var ennå ganske fersk da dette bildet ble tatt. Motivet er 30 middelaldrende menn som samlet i fem rekker foran verandatrappa på Sanne. De som befinner seg i de tre fremste rekkene sitter, mens herrene i de to bakerste rekkene står. En hund sitter mellom beina til en av karene i første rekke. Våningshuset i bakgrunnen har vertikal over- og underliggerpanel, og er malt i en lys farge. Fotografiet er montert på en kartong, der mennenes etternavn er påtrykt under bildet. I 1. rekke ser vi (fra venstre) Ødegaard, Næs, Ellingsen, Grimsrød og Ramberg. 2. rekke: Sørensen, Eriksen, Jovall, Evenrød, Lieungh, Aarskoug og Nærum. I 3. rekke ser vi: Strand, Kaabbel, Jørgentvedt, Bodahl, Kiær, Skavhaugen, Lund, Mysen og Braarød. I 4. rekke står: O. Larsen, Krog, Græsmoen, J. Larsen, Huseby, og Hagelund, og i 5 rekke ser vi: Vastvedt, Dingstad, Braarud og Videnæs.
Tidlig på 1900-tallet arrangerte Smaalenenes Skogselskab årlige kurs for å vekke interesse og formidle kunnskap om skogsaken. I 1902 la selskapet opp til at kurset skulle ha seks dagers varighet. Selskapets styre anså det som sin hovedoppgave å skolere enkeltskogeiere, slik at de lærte å utvikle skogarealene sine slik at de ville gi langsiktig og god avkastning. Det er grunn til å anta at deltakelsen under slike kurs var preget av dette, og at de fleste kursdeltakerne var brukere på jord- og skogeiendommer i Østfold, forholdsvis «velsituerte» menn i 30- og 40-åra. Per 1. januar 1904 hadde Smaalenenes Skogselskab 13 livsvarige medlemmer og 166 som betalte årskontingent. En del av etternavnene fra medlemslistene kjenner vi igjen fra dette fotografiet, men ettersom flere hadde samme etternavn, kan vi ikke være sikre på hvem alle er. I 1. rekke kan Næs være både Peder Næs (f. 1865), som var skogsbestyrer og forpakter på Sanne (og dermed vert for kurset) og Hans Næs (f. 22/7 1865) på Vannum ved Moss. Grimsrød var antakelig Christoffer Grimsrød (f. 3/5 1863) fra Hobbøl, mens Ramberg sannsynligvis hette Hans Ramberg (f. 23/12 1859) og bodde på Skallerød ved Moss. I 2. rekke var Sørensen antakelig Magnus Sofus Sørensen (18/8 1861 – 24/8 1929) på Bjølstad i Glemmen, Jovall var sannsynligvis Jørgen Andreassen Jovall (12/10 1872-5/1 1953) fra Rømskog, Evenrød var Mikael Henriksen Evenrød (f. 11/10 1837) fra Glemmen, Lieungh var Joakim J. Lieungh (1868-1939) på Vister i Tune, Aarskoug kan ha vært lærer og organist Peder Aarskoug (f. 12/8 1863) i Torsnes og Nærum var antakelig Willads Nærum (f. 6/10 1866) på Søndre Nærum i Rygge. I 3. rekke hadde Jørgentvedt sannsynligvis fornavnet Hans og var fra Trøgstad, Emil Arntz Bodahl (f. 1868) var gardbruker på Søndre Bodal i Rakkestad, Elias C. Kiær var trelasthandler, skipsreder og en sentral person i styret for Smaalenenes skogselskab, Otto Skavhaugen (14/11 1875 – 31/8 1922) var ansatt som amtsskogmester av den samme organisasjonen. Lund var antakelig Johan Martin Lund (f. 25/6 1849 – 24/8 1931) fra Askim, mens Mysen var [Arnt] Laurits Mysen (8/6 1869 – 3/11 1954) på Nordre Haga i Eidsberg. Navnet Braarød refererer antakelig til Peter eller Peder Edvard Nilsen Braarød (1869 – 9/12 1906) fra Skjeberg. I 4. rekke er det sannsynlig at Græsmoen er feilstaving for Grasmoen, og at mannen på fotografiet er Aksel Grasmoen (f. 12/12 1866) fra Berg. Etternavnet Hagelund kan enten referere til Jens Hagelund (f. 2/11 1869) på Tømmerholt i Tune, eller til en av tvillingene Hans og Anders Hagelund (f. 25/2 1871) på Hagelund i Idd. I 5. rekke finner vi etternavnet Dingstad. Smaalenenes Skogselskab hadde to medlemmer med dette etternavnet, Hilmar Dingstad (7/2 1876 – 25/4 1969) og Edvard Dingstad (1877-1929), begge fra Spydeberg. De ovenstående antakelsene om personer på fotografiet fra skogkurset på Sanne i 1902 er basert på antatt tilhørighet til skogselskapet i fylket, men det var naturligvis mulig delta på slike kurs uten å være medlem av organisasjonen, og flere av etternavnene på bildekartongen var forholdsvis vanlige gards- og familienavn i Østfold. Her kan det med andre ord forekomme feilslutninger.

Dette fotografiet ble funnet i skuffen for storkopier i museets fotoarkiv. Fotografiet (22, 7 X 16, 8 centimeter) er klebet på en spesialprodusert karton fra fotograf Karlsson, som har tatt bildet og antakelig levert kopier til kursdeltakerne. På baksida av kartongen har konservator Tore Fossum skrevet «Bildet er gave fra Forstkandidat Hans Berger, 2300 Kongsvinger. Gitt 3/2-1973». Hans Berger var skogfunksjonær for firmaet And. H. Kiær & Co, seinere for Borregaard, som overtok Kiær-skogene langs Glommadalføret. Han var også en av Tore Fossums jaktkamerater. Vi vet ikke hvor Berger har fått fotografiet fra, men i og med at Elias C. Kiær er blant dem som er avbildet, kan det jo ha «ligget og slengt» i kontormiljøet hos And. H. Kiær & Co, hvor Berger var forstmester.
Fotografen, Johan August Karlsson, drev fotoforretning og musikkhandel i Kirkegata i Sarpsborg. Kartongen dette bildet er klebet på kan tyde på at han hadde en slags filial i Mysen også.
