Fotoet fra et album gitt av Thams-familien. Trolig laget av Marentius Thams (1894-1940). Dette var første turen til Afrika for Marentius. Han reiste sammen med onkelen, Christian M. Thams (1867-1948) og Mathilde (Matty) Christiansen (1883-1945), i 1921 gift med Christian Thams. De besøkte Mosambik, Zanzibar, Kenya, og trolig også andre land Afrika. Christian var adm.direktør og styreformann i plantasjeselskapet.
