The Finnås automatic telephone exchange represents a typical «container exchange». Made of steel, it was originally built for an ARK-521 exchange, which has now been replaced with a 400 number, AXE-RSS.
The nearest neighbour to the exchange is the first building to have been owned by Telenor and Norway’s oldest telegraph house, Kulleseid Telegraph Station at Finnsås, Bømlo.
The two buildings are situated just a few meters apart.
